The series also received, from the American Bar Association, a Certificate of Merit in the national media awards, "in recognition of a noteworthy contribution to public understanding of the American system of law and justice," and the Publick Occurrences Award from the New England Newspaper & Press Association for outstanding reporting done in the spirit of courage and independence of Publick Occurrences, the nation's first newspaper.
